Naturology: Designs with Shape Memory Materials and Fabric

Elaine Ng Yan Ling works using shape memory materials and fabrics to create works that move when exposed to moisture and heat.  Her work is labeled as naturology which she describes as mimicking biology through smart material design.  Specifically of interest is her applications in using shape memory polymers to create 3D textures in fabrics.  The link that discusses her work with the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Fellows is given here:  http://blog.ted.com/2012/08/17/the-secret-life-of-textiles-fellows-friday-with-elaine-ng-yan-ling/.  Also, her website is given here:  http://www.elaineyanlingng.com/.  This picture is of 3D fabric structure with incorporated shape memory polymer the movement is created through moisture stimulus.
